Valkyrie burst onto the fertile San Antonio metal scene in 1985, releasing their brand of Texas thrash to the hordes of ravenous metal fans throughout the state. Whether at the Cameo in SA, the Ritz in Austin, or a local high school auditorium, Valkyrie always slayed with quality musicianship and entertaining stage banter from singer Joe Gregory.
The band's 3-song demo titled 'Choosers Of The Slain' was released in 1986 and was quickly swept up into the international tape trading whirlwind garnering rave reviews from far and wide. Frequent gigging for the next 3 years saw the band share the stage with such Texas metal heavyweights WatchTower, Militia & Rotting Corpse among others.
For the past several years a resurgence has been building for the classic Texas metal scene of the 1980's and several bands have reformed to play local and even international shows. This resurgence stoked the embers of the Valkyrie flame and compelled Joe Gregory and guitarist Scott Stine to return to the studio in 2019 to re-record the 3 songs of the original 'Choosers Of The Slain' demo and add 3 more tunes from the band's heyday that were never previously committed to tape. CD comes shrink wrapped in cardboard jacket & ships without jewel case.
